Donations and Investments
Digital Cameras: We urgently require atleast 2 digital cameras per school to shoot teacher
training sessions, classroom sessions as well as teach children to handle cameras and shoot
day-to-day happenings. We also need them to for scholarship verification work when teachers
and staff visit homes of scholarship applicants to shoot their homes, family, etc. to assess needs.
People visiting Coimbatore can donate their old digital camera for Isha Vidhya schools. These can be handed over at Isha Vidhya stall at Isha Yoga Centre during Mahashivratri or sent to Isha Vidhya headoffice in Coimbatore. To know more about it, please drop a mail at asmita.sinha@ishavidhya.org.
Shade Nets and Poles: As part of environmental awareness and education, seedling nurseries have been established in Isha Vidhya schools with help of Project Greenhands. In the absence of shade nets, due to harsh sun of Tamil Nadu mortality rate of seedlings is extremely high. We require Shade nets and poles for each of the 7 schools which cost Rs. 21,000 per set. Total cost for 7 sets is Rs. 147,000.
Tricycle to transport food: Tricycles for shifting food from kitchen to the hall in the main building where students eat are required. Till now staff member used to manually carry large vessels with cooked food but with increase in no. of students, it is becoming impossible. We need 3 tricycles as of now. Cost of each transport tricycle is Rs. 12,000.
Solar panels: Rural India is beset with the critical problem of erratic power supply and voltage fluctuations. We have installed solar panels in Coimbatore school on trial basis and the same is functioning quite well. This will power the Computer lab, Audio Visual classroom, Digital classroom, Office room & Principal's computer. Cost of installation per school is Rs. 277,000 which includes the cost of the panels (Rs. 252,000), civil works, installation and wiring charges (Rs. 25,000). We seek donations to do the same in all the other 6 schools as well.
Learning Kit for Tamil: We have been offered a 20% discount on a comprehensive learning Tamil Language Kit. Total of 14 kits are required i.e. 2 kits per school. Discounted price per kit is Rs 3625 so the cost of 14 kits is 50,750.
