Current academic year is well into its third month. Only 28% of scholarship students have found sponsors so far (out of 2800 students, only 850 have found sponsors). Since these children will not be able to continue studies without scholarship,they are being given the same in the hope that we will receive enough renewals or fresh sponsorships soon. Equally urgent is the need to construct additional classrooms & equip schools with lab material, learning material, furniture, etc.
We have recently received accreditation from Give India, a highly reputed donation platform in India, which has vetted our work and processes. We have also reached the final stage of accreditation with Global Giving, a reputed international donation platform. Accreditation to these will provide a lot of comfort to people who are otherwise not familiar with Isha Vidhya, as the accreditation comes after satisfying stringent evaluation criteria of our operations. We are participating in the Global Giving Fundraiser campaign(1 – 30 Sep) to fund the urgent furnishing expenses of newly opened Dharmapuri School (where the building has been funded by Infosys Foundation) and in the India Giving Challenge of Give India(10 Sep – 24 Oct) for meeting the funding requirements of the other eight schools of Isha Vidhya. By sending your friends the links to one of these campaigns and explaining about the project, you can help us reach out to these people. The Dharmapuri School requires Rs. 5.4 million (US$ 109,000) furniture, library books, lab equipment for Computer, Science, Math and English Labs; classroom learning material, drinking water requirement - Borewell, OH Tanks, RO Plant and office equipment. The othe rIsha Vidhya Schools require Rs. 34.1 million (US$ 682,000) for construction of classrooms, furniture, lab equipment and learning material for the current year. Please help us in reaching out to people who believe that education is the best tool to bring about positive change in the society and raise funds for currently functioning Isha Vidhya schools. Nine students from Isha Vidhya Cuddalore School were selected to act in a skit that was performed in front of visiting elders from Helpage India, Tamaraikulam Elders Village,. The skit stressed the importance of looking after the elders and contained a message for youngsters, educating them on the need to respect and care for elders. The students were trained for 2 hours every day for 3 days for the performance. The Intergenerational Theatre Project is a year-long project. During summer vacations, performing artist from Pondicherry Central University will visit Cuddalore School and train the students. Shows will be conducted throughout Pondicherry where these trained students will perform. The project will benefit Isha Vidhya Cuddalore School by providing students an educational opportunity to learn from the elders while developing confidence through participating in the company’s theatre productions and dramatic activities. |

Thank you Mr. Prabhakaran for organizing the camp and paying for it and Ms. Rosy for giving your time. Critical requirements: Out of 2800 academic scholarship allocated in the year 2013 – 2014, 1950 are yet to receive sponsors. Our priority is to ensure each deserving child receives scholarship even if it requires us to divert funds allocated for building critical infrastructure. It will greatly help us to deliver on the promise made to kids at the time of admission if you can encourage your contacts to sponsor a child’s education and also renew your own sponsorships, if not done till now. Similar number of students require sponsorship of mid-day meal. This meal is the only balanced, nutritious meal that a large percentage of students consume during the day. Your sponsorship not only ensures a full belly but also helps them overcome malnutrition that they suffer from.
