| My request:
Break the cycle of poverty - Educate child and change a life today...
The rural kids in the villages have a right to eat one good meal a day. We have the fortune to get more than 3 good meals a day, it is time to share our fortune with the kids who need it. We eat out when we want to have fun spending more than 2 or 3 X of what the food is worth, can we just keep that money aside for the kids who really need it. Gandhi always said more than 70% of India is in villages, so these are the kids that will shape up tomorrow's India and we need to grow a healthy country.
I have always wanted to do at least a little in helping make education accessible to those who cannot afford it. "Isha Vidhya" has been committed to this goal. Help me raise funds for this initiative. Donate to this cause using the 'Donate' link on this page.
Today, there are more than 770 million illiterate people in the world, over 300 million children who are not enrolled in school, and hundreds of millions more lack access to books and libraries. Ninety-eight percent of these children live in developing countries, where extreme poverty prevents them from gaining an education.
You will see just how much joy and hope and lasting change your scholarship gift will bring to a child or family living in poverty.
Cause:
Noon Meal Subsidy for 50 children in Isha VIdhya Village School (Rs.1,50,000)
Many of our children come from families where both parents are daily wagers, who need to leave for work early. Usually, they cook just once a day and this is the dinner, a portion of which is kept aside for the children as breakfast and lunch as well. In the absence of any vegetables, fruit or proteins, the nutritional content of their food is also very poor. This severely impedes the physical and mental growth of the children. By providing at least one tasty and nutritious meal to these kids, two issues are addressed– health of the children and incentivizing the parent to send their child to school.
No donation is too small (or too big!) to participate. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! |
