My request:

Change their Life, Change your Own - Help provide underprivileged rural children with a classroom...

Isha Vidhya village schools are committed to doing their part in helping make education accessible to those who cannot afford it. Help me raise funds for this initiative. Donate to this cause using the 'Donate' link on this page.

Cause: Raise funds to construct one classroom for Isha Vidhya Village schools ($13700)

Each classroom/lab consists of a room of 500 sq.ft space with 200 sq.ft of corridor area in front. The entire building is made of bricks, steel, cement, sand and stones. Recently, In a village school at Sandegoundanpalayam, Coimbatore District, Tamilnadu, two classrooms were constructed for class 6. This has helped to add 70 rural children to the school, who would have otherwise not gotten an opportunity for a good education.

The high quality infrastructure and computer aided learning methods employed ensure that the children enjoy coming to school and stay motivated to learn. Teachers too find it far more interesting to teach in the school due to the training they receive and the learning they go through as well. The clean, spacious, well ventilated classrooms, computers , other educational aids and extra teachers support and motivate even the weakest of learners to continue with school and ensure that they do actually learn.Even the most underprivileged can afford it because of scholarships donated by our donors. In fact, the Isha Vidhya schools admit girl children and the most economically backward on a preferential basis.

"Lakshmanan is a 7 years old and studies in grade 2 at Isha Vidhya. His parents are both coolies (virtually bonded laborers) in a farm, and the combined monthly income of the family is Rs.3,500 (less than $ 80). Since there are no schools in the area where he lives, Lakshmanan travels 30 miles every day to attend Isha Vidhya school. He is a diligent student, and is also very creative- He is very good at making things out of clay."

Your donation will help support more children like Lakshmanan with a Future...

No donation is too small (or too big!) to participate. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
