Isha Vidhya presently runs 7 village schools in Tamilnadu with 2745 children , mostly first generation school goers. This has been made possible through donors (individuals and organizations), sponsoring the cost of educating a child and funding Infrastructure to build the schools
This academic year (2011-12) will see an increased number of children enroll in our rural schools. We are looking to raise funds towards 700 new student scholarships, build a total of 28 additional classrooms and 7 kitchens to provide nutritional meals and 14 school buses for transporting children from neighboring and remote villages at our 7 schools.

What does this mean?
        You can help take Isha Vidhya and its story to your circle of friends, classmates, relatives, colleagues and even companies. You could pick any of Isha Vidhya's funding needs and champion its cause through your own Personalized Fundraising page on the Isha Vidhya website. For example, you could decide to try and raise funds for scholarships for 10 children or to build a classroom or a kitchen or simply raise a certain amount, say Rs.20000 or $1000 or whatever you choose to target. Sponsor a Child's Scholarship for only Rs. 10,000 / $240 / £ 150 per year.
Scholarship includes tuition, note-books, books and nutritional health supplement.
You will receive details of the child sponsored, including photo and regular updates on his/her progress.
Some children require partial scholarship support (Rs. 5,000 / $120 / £ 75) per child per year or You can help children reach school safely by sponsoring their transport (Rs.4,000 / $100 / £ 60) per child per year or help them have a healthy, nutritious meal every day (Rs.3,000 / $72 / £ 45 ) per child per year.
Sponsor Critical Needs of the Schools:
Sponsor a library book (Rs.100 / $2.5 / £ 1.5), a bench (Rs.2,500 / $60 / £ 40), a computer (Rs.35,000 / $840 / £ 525), sports equipment (Rs.33,000 / $800 / £ 500) , etc.
Computers play a very critical role in the education of the children as Isha Vidhya schools use several computer based bilingual content to teach children English, Math and concepts. This supports the curriculum and also augments teacher capabilities which tend to be somewhat limited in the rural environments that the schools function in.
Sponsor School Infrastructure: Sponsor a classroom (Rs.5,70,000 / $13,700 / £ 8,550), noon-meal kitchen & equipment for a school (Rs. 300,000 / $7,200 / £ 4,500), school bus (Rs. 12,00,000 / $28,940 / £ 18090) or even a whole school (Rs. 4 cr. / $960,000 / £ 600,000 over 4 years) and have them named after yourself or your loved ones.You can even contribute part amounts towards these requirements.
Having a kitchen in the school will help us to cut the cost of food served by almost 40% making a healthy, nutritious meal affordable to all children. Most of the children are undernourished which affects growth of their body and brain.
School buses play a critical role in providing affordable and safe transport to the school for children from neighbouring and remote villages, who can't afford the costs of hired vehicles. It is also crucial for getting good teachers to come from nearby towns. This helps improve enrollment and reduce dropout rates among students and teachers too.
